Neurontin Seizure Medication
Generic Neurontin (Gabapentin) is used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of seizures and for the management of postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain caused by the herpes virus or shingles).
Neurontin Side Effects
Most common Neurontin side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Do not take Neurontin drug if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. This medicine will add to the effects of alcohol and other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants.
Do not exceed recommended dose or stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the medicine is suddenly stopped. Your dose may need to be slowly lowered to avoid side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this medicine.
Neurontin Dosage
Follow the directions for taking Neurontin as provided by your doctor. This medicine may be swallowed whole, or the contents of the capsule may be dissolved in juice or sprinkled over soft foods (such as applesauce) immediately before swallowing. Neurontin may be taken on an empty stomach or with food.
Do not take antacids containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours of taking this medicine.
Take Neurontin regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same times each day will help you to remember. Continue to take Neurontin even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. If you miss a dose of this drug, take it as soon as possible. If it is less than 4 hours until your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
