Prevacid Stomach Pain Pills
Prevacid (lansaprazole) is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It may also be used to treat ulcers due to long-term use of certain pain/anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
The Prevacid (lansaprazole) medicine works by blocking acid production in the stomach. It may be used in combination with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, clarithromycin) to treat certain types of ulcers. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Prevacid Side Effects
Prevacid side effects that may occur while taking this medicine include constipation or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.
Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience stomach pain. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Prevacid Dosage
Follow the directions for using Prevacid provided by your doctor. Take Prevacide before eating unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Be sure to follow your doctor’s directions on how many times a day you should take this medicine.
Open the packet and pour the contents into a container containing 2 tablespoonfuls (1 oz. or 30 ml) of water. Stir well and drink the entire suspension mixture immediately. If any granules remain in the bottom of the container after drinking the mixture, add a little more water to the container, stir the mixture again and drink it immediately.
